I told myself in January 2012, that at 31 I’d had my fix of Ibiza. Enough memories to last me a lifetime, weirdly I genuinely believed that I’d had enough and it was time to put Ibiza to bed.
As the weeks went on into 2012 the lure of that island was like a magnetic force on my heart and soul, and I found myself booking a few trips in for a few days here and there.
I will NEVER forget the first time I touched down in Ibiza – for a variety of reasons both good and bad. For me it was love at first sight, I was 17 years old and it was 1998, my first holiday away without my parents.
Its true what they say, there is something about Ibiza, and if you are to believe all what Nostradamus predicted, then you will instantly feel energy once you step outside that airport and look above your head to that magical ‘IBIZA – EIVISSA’ sign that is outside the airport.
I am sitting here writing this from my office in London, and have Goosebumps as I am writing this. My visits have reached double figures to the island, and each time I make different memories that fill me with happiness every time I think about them!
To think that this tiny Spanish island is a Mecca that brings together people from all over the world for the love of Music I find truly amazing.
There is nothing better than watching the sun come up at Playa D’en Bossa, and for anyone who has yet to take their first trip to Eivissa, there is a LOT more to the Island that San Antonio and its infamous ‘strip’ (don’t get me wrong that is an integral part of what Ibiza is about, but its only a ‘part’ of it) Sharing memories and falling in love with new friends who are exactly like you.
Ibiza is the ONLY place I have ever been outside of home that I can walk down the street and be guaranteed to meet someone I know, and that is an amazing feeling – you feel ‘at home’ and ‘secure’ OR be taken to a secret villa up in the mountains for an after party that nobody knows about, and meet a ton of people who are all interested in your story – where you have been and what you love to do.
Experience it all – the highs and the lows from start of the season right to the close (they really do save the best until last) Eat dinner at Mambo whilst watching the Sunset, Stay up all day and all night drinking beer and Sangria dancing at Bora Bora Beach, Go into the back room as Savannah – you never know who might be playing in there unannounced – like I did in 2010 and saw Sebastian Ingrosso, Dress up for The Zoo, and stand in a packed Terrace at DC10 and experience something unlike anything before. I can’t put DC10 into words, its something you need to go and find out for yourself.
Luciano is MY All time No1 DJ and the emotion I feel when he closes his party ‘Vagabundos’ at Pacha is surreal – quite possibly the most beautiful club in the world listening to music that makes me smile from the inside out – ONLY IN IBIZA PEOPLE.
I could write for hours about the beauty that is Ibiza Town and the Port, and then the trip that EVERYONE must take to Formentera (its like a whole other paradise that you can’t even imagine)
You will hear music unlike no other, Ibiza leaves a big imprint in your soul – try it all once, you never know you just might like it!
Will I take my husband and children I hear you ask? Of course I will – because aside from the all night parties and the biggest clubs in the world, there is a really ‘family’ orientated side to Ibiza that if you just look a little bit further out!
See you on the Island!
